Nita Minister Counselor of Embassy of Romania visited Center
for Economic and Social Development (CESD) office on 28th of
January. Vugar Bayramov, the CESD Chairman, and Sevinc Yusifova,
Foreign Relations Coordinator, welcomed Mr. Nita and informed him
about CESD activities and up-coming programs in 2010. The meeting
focused on economic, as well as energy co-operation
between Azerbaijan and Romania. Both sides mentioned that there is
great potential for the development of relations between the two
countries in this regard. During the meeting, the importance of
development of Azerbaijan-Romanian economic co-operation from the
point of view of Azerbaijan’s economic relations with the European
Union was mentioned.
Also meeting discussions
were touched the Nabucco project issues. The Nabucco project
represents a new gas pipeline connecting the Caspian region, Middle
East, Bulgaria and Romania with Austria and further on with the
Central and Western European gas markets. The counselor said that
since 2000 the Romanian economy has transformed into
positive macroeconomic stability. Romania has attracted increasing
amounts of foreign investment, becoming the single largest
investment destination in southeastern and central Europe.
