Training of Trainers for Azerbaijani CSO Leaders Held in Baku

 

 

The Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD) and Cyprus Management Center with support from European Commission held Training for Trainers (ToT) session in Baku, Azerbaijan on February, 08-12, 2010. The 5 days ToT led by an international trainer and were effective to equip 15 prospective local trainers with the skills, tools and creative techniques to deliver the project’s future interactive open training events in a way that makes learning enjoyable and effective. This served to strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations and local authorities as a pre-condition for a more equitable, open and democratic society through support to their “own initiatives”.

The ToT was aimed at CSO leaders and members of the partner organisation as well as other civil society actors in Azerbaijan, who are interested in developing their skills and understanding effective training for CSOs and play an active role within the project. The effectiveness of the TOT was effective to equip prospective local trainers with the skills, tools and creative techniques to deliver interactive training events in a way that makes learning enjoyable and effective. It also provided the local trainers with an introductory understanding of the theory and practice of civil society strengthening, organisational development and capacity building.

 

Following eight (8) topics are covered in the Open CSO Trainings:

 

a.       Understanding Civil Society and Setting Up of CSOs

b.       Project Design and Management

c.       Strategic Visioning and Planning in CSOs

d.       Managing Staff and Volunteers in CSOs

e.       Fundraising for CSOs

f.       Communication and Outreach for CSOs

g.       Advocacy and Campaigning in Civil Society

h.       Networking and Relationship Building with CSOs and Authorities
