CESD staff member attended Economic Forum of Young Leaders

Mr. Kanan Karimzada, the staff member of Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD), attended Economic Forum of Young Leaders in Nowy Sacz, Poland. Young Europeans meet in Poland to discuss the future of its continent. The Economic Forum of Young, which were organized for the 4th time is a unique chance for young leaders to meet and debate about the future of a free and democratic Europe. The participants of the Forum take part in panel discussions, workshops and business evenings.

 

CESD Chairman Attended Early Warning Conference in Berlin 

 

Dr. Vugar Bayramov, the chairman of Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD), attended Early Warning Conference hold by Hertie School of Governance. The goal of the event was to offer an intensive training in the policy analysis of crisis and crisis response (problem identification, prioritization, scenario-building, options analysis) and to assess the potential of developing a network of experts or expert organizations able to embark in a coordinated Black Sea Early Warning Network. The fields covered are security, energy, inter-ethnic conflict, economic crisis and development. Representatives from Black Sea Countries discussed early warning system in the region and country cases exclusively discussed by the audience. As mentioned that early warning in the region facilitates the secure exchange of information and knowledge between organizations and offers solutions for responding to fraud challenges. 

 

Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars 

Fellowships 2010-2011


The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is announcing the 
opening of its 2010-2011 Fellowship competition. The Center awards 
approximately 20-25 academic year residential fellowships to 
individuals from any country with outstanding project proposals on 
national and/or international issues. Topics and scholarship should 
relate to key public policy challenges or provide the historical 
and/or cultural framework to illuminate policy issues of contemporary 
importance. Applicants must hold a doctorate or have equivalent 
professional experience. Fellows are provided stipends (which include 
round trip travel), private offices, access to the Library of 
Congress, Windows based personal computers, and research assistants.

CESD Joined to NISPAcee

Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD) became member of NISPAcee (The Network of Institutes and Schools of Public Administration in Central and Eastern Europe) in January, 2009. CESD was first think tank from Azerbaijan joined to NISPAcee (http://www.nispa.sk).

As member of NISPAcee CESD is planning to work with other think tanks from region to concentrate efforts. CESD papers will be distributed by NISPAcee network.

Vugar Bayramov, the CESD chairman, mentioned that in spite of the fact that CESD is member of almost all leading networking and associations, the center has a preference to cooperate with all leading networking in the region, Central and Eastern Europe. “It is good tool to share ideas and experience”-  he added.

CESD is member of CIVICUS, PASOS, International Studies Association and other leading networks.

 

CESD Chairman had presentation at International Anti-corruption Conference in Athens, Greece.

Vugar Bayramov, chairman of CESD, attended the 13th International Anti-corruption conference in Athens, Greece. In his speech, Dr. Bayramov addressed how empower role of civil society organizations in fighting with corruption in oil rich countries. Download presentation

 

CESD joined to the PASOS

Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD) joined to the PASOS as think tank from Azerbaijan . The deс ision about the CESD members was mad by PASOS Board in May, 2007 (More information can be obtained at http://www.pasos.org/www-pasosmembers-org/news/think-tanks-from-azerbaijan-czech-republic-and-georgia-join-pasos-network ). PASOS, the Policy Association for an Open Society, promotes and protects open society values, including democracy, the rule of law, good governance, respect for and protection of human rights, and economic and social development, by supporting policy centres.

Dr. Vugar Bayramov, the CESD chairman mentioned that PASOS membership will give more opportunity to the CESD to have closely cooperation with regional think tanks. CESD is also planning to contribute to civil society development in the Europe and Central Asia

International Conference on Development Economics; ABCDE 2007 CESD Chairman will attend the ABCDE 2007

 The Annual Bank Conference on Development Economics (ABCDE) 2007 will take place in Bled, Slovenia, on May 17-18, 2007. The conference will be co-organized by the World Bank and the Government of Slovenia. The conference will have as the overarching topic 'Private Sector and Development' and it will feature research papers on the following sub-topics, as well as working sessions: 1. Financial Inclusion 2.The business climate 3. The provision of public services by non-state actors: health, education, environment/water. The Forum is organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in close cooperation with the Kazakhstan Government, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, and the National Union of Businessmen and Employers of Kazakhstan, "Atameken". It is held in conjunction with the 63 rd Commission Session of UNESCAP.

 The theme of APBF 2007 is, "At the Crossroads between Asia and Europe: Harnessing the Possibilities of Central Asia."

 We believe that the APBF 2007 will provide participants with a unique platform to discuss opportunities and challenges for Central Asia's increasing integration in the global economy. The Forum is also an important annual forum for region-wide business networking, partnership building and dialogue among the business community, governments and civil society. Participation in the Forum is on a self-financed basis.

CESD Chairman attended CIVICUS World Assembly 2006

 Dr. Vugar Bayramov, chairman of Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD), had presentation in CIVICUS World Assembly 2006 in Glasgow, UK on June 23, 2006. CESD was one of the organizers of "New anticorruption initiatives by civil society institutions" workshop. In his speech, Dr. Bayramov focused on new initiatives by Azerbaijan Civil Society Institutes regarding to fighting with corruption and enhancing transparency. His conclusion is that civil society organizations play one of key roles in enhancing transparency and promoting sustainable development.
